Federal Minister of Health meets WHO Director for the Eastern Mediterranean in Geneva

The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, met with the Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Dr. Hanan Bkhli, and the organization’s team, within the side meetings of the General Assembly of the World Health Organization in Geneva, in the presence of Ambassador Hassan Hamed, Permanent Representative of Sudan, and the delegation of Sudan.

The Minister expressed his thanks to Dr. Hanan Bakli for visiting Sudan twice during the war and her continuous support, in addition to her participation in the side event on Sudan and delivering a speech in support of the Sudanese people.

They discussed the possibilities of enhancing health financing for Sudan across the countries of the region, and marketing reconstruction and rehabilitation projects in partnership with friendly countries and supporting institutions, especially the Gulf countries.

The meeting also touched on the importance of the World Health Organization benefiting from the Sudanese medical expertise working in Sudan and the regional office, focusing on the public health laboratory, epidemic and emergency control programs, polio vaccinations, in addition to restarting the Mycetoma Center to be a reference and global center as it was in partnership with the World Health Organization.
