Federal Minister of Health Discusses Efforts to Combat Epidemics and Restore Health with Khartoum Governor

The Acting Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, received the Governor of Khartoum State, received Ahmed Osman Hamza, and his accompanying delegation this morning at the quarantine hall in Port Sudan, to discuss ways to rehabilitate health institutions in the state and rebuild the health system after the war, as well as combating epidemics in preparation for the safe return of citizens.

The minister stressed the ministry’s commitment to bridging the gap in health services, pointing to the stability of the drug supply, and the need for concerted efforts to restore health services, especially after the liberation of Khartoum. He also explained the importance of operating basic hospitals and restoring specialized services, revealing a plan to provide medical devices and equipment.

The Minister announced an upcoming initiative that brings together businessmen, companies and institutions to support the reconstruction of the health sector, pointing to the arrangement to start operating a naval hospital (emergency department), Ibrahim Malik, Soba and Bashaer hospitals. He also revealed the ongoing efforts to restore reference services, such as gastroenterology and catheterization at Al-Shaab Hospital, in addition to restarting catheterization services at Omdurman Hospital, and launching the dental hospital development project.

The Governor of Khartoum State praised the active role of the Federal Ministry of Health in supporting health services, stressing that the operation of hospitals in safe areas contributed to the stability of the provision of medical services.
