AL welcomes Kamil Idris as Prime Minister of Sudan

The General Secretariat of the Arab League (AL)welcomed the appointment of Dr. Kamil Idris as Prime Minister of Sudan, considering it an important step toward restoring the functioning of national civil institutions.
An official source in the General Secretariat stated that the Arab League will intensify its efforts to support efforts to preserve Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, increase international response to its development and humanitarian needs, restore the path of civil transition, and launch a comprehensive Sudanese-led political process that ensures the participation of all segments of Sudanese civil society.
It is worth noting that the Arab League, the United Nations, and the African Union held a meeting on the sidelines of the Arab Summit in Baghdad on May 16, at the level of heads of organizations. This meeting was the first of its kind since the beginning of the Sudanese crisis, to work together in a coordinated manner to help end the crisis and address its various repercussions.
