Egyptian Ambassador Affirms His Country’s Keenness to Participate in Sudan’s Reconstruction

Member of the Sovereignty Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, praised the Egyptian government’s continued support for the Sudanese government and people in their ordeal, including its provision of humanitarian aid and essential needs, as well as its unwavering stance on issues related to Sudan’s peace, security, and stability.

During a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador Hani Salah in his office today, Jaber affirmed the depth and strength of bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly Egypt’s pioneering role and initiative in the development process and the reconstruction of what was destroyed by war.

The meeting discussed a number of important issues related to the reconstruction process and Egypt’s commitment to rehabilitating a number of vital facilities in the country, particularly the rehabilitation of the Halfaya and Shambat Bridges and the Merow
e Dam power plant.
The meeting also addressed the situation on the continent, the Horn of Africa, the Sahel, and the Sahara, as well as issues related to Red Sea security.

The meeting also addressed the voluntary return of Sudanese refugees, the overcrowding at the land border crossings between the two countries, and proposed solutions.

For his part, the Egyptian ambassador stated that the meeting discussed all arrangements related to the start of reconstruction operations in Sudan and the continuation of the humanitarian aid Egypt has provided during the war.

Hani added that the meeting was characterized by frankness and a fruitful and constructive exchange of ideas.
He affirmed his country’s full support for the national state institutions in Sudan and all affiliated bodies and agencies, emphasizing the support of the Egyptian political leadership and the Minister of Foreign Affairs for everything that would preserve peace and stability in Sudan.

The ambassador briefed the Sovereignty Council member on upcoming events and activities, including the second session of the Egyptian-Sudanese Businessmen Forum in Port Sudan in the coming period, with the participation of a number of prominent Egyptian businessmen and companies. He also reviewed the preparations for holding a celebration in Sudan to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of the renowned Egyptian singer, Umm Kulthum. He also reviewed the ongoing arrangements for holding the trade committee between the two countries in Cairo during the second half of this year.
