Dangerous Military Escalation in Nyala

Local sources reported that the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia dug trenches and planted landmines around the city of Nyala, South Darfur State, in an attempt to prevent Sudanese armed forces from advancing on the city.
This move sparked concern and discontent among residents, who expressed fears about the repercussions of the military escalation on their lives and security. In a related development, the Sudanese army announced that the “Hunter” convoy, which had arrived in Kordofan State, intends to head to Nyala under the command of Brigadier General Hussein Jawdat, commander of the 16th Division stationed in the city.
