UNSC condemns the militia’s kidnapping and looting of UNSFA’s convoys

Members of the Security Council strongly condemned the rebel Rapid Support Militia seizure of more than 60 United Nations peacekeeping forces, the kidnapping of eight civilians, and the looting of a UNESFA logistic convoy of eight Vehicles and 280,000 liters of fuel, following a routine fuel delivery process to the joint border monitoring and verification mission in Kadugli.
Council members condemned all forms of violence against UN staff and civilians, including deliberate kidnappings, and reaffirmed that such attacks could constitute war crimes, and called for rapid support to be held accountable. He called on the council to return the fuel trucks (UNESFA) immediately. They also called on all parties to enable the force to fully carry out its tasks without any intervention, including providing support to the joint verification mechanism.
