University of Khartoum prepares for the post-war period

As part of its preparations for the post-war period in Sudan, the University of Khartoum concluded at the Sudan House in Cairo and several centers inside and outside Sudan; a workshop on evaluating and assessing exams, which was held by the Secretariat of Scientific Affairs – University of Khartoum to evaluate the experience of examination cycles in the period from August 2023 to November 2024, as well as developing a protocol for future examinations.

Two papers were discussed, the first entitled (Quality Control in Higher Education), which was prepared and presented by Professor Ahmed Mudawi Musa – Vice President of the University, in which he addressed the quality standards in higher education and proposals for advancing this aspect in order to achieve leadership for Sudanese universities.

The second paper was entitled (Examination Protocol) prepared and presented by Professor Ali Abdel Rahman Rabah, Secretary of Academic Affairs at the University of Khartoum. It dealt with examination procedures, regulations and laws governing them at the university, how to improve and manage the examination process in light of the developments imposed by the war, and how to benefit from electronic platforms in preparing and implementing examinations in a more flexible manner.
The discussion sessions were moderated by Professor Jamal El-Din Mortada Abdo, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Director of the University of Khartoum Center in Cairo.

The sessions were attended by a large number of distinguished guests during the two days they were held in various centers. Representatives from the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo included Dr. Asim Ahmed Hassan, Cultural Attaché, Professor Amir Mustafa, Director of Al-Nasr College, Professor Qasim Badri, Director of Ahfad University, Brof. Hassan Al-Hajj Al-Sa’im, Vice-Chancellor of Nile Valley University, Major General Dr. Abdul Rafi Rajaba Hajo, Coordinator of Karari University in Atbara, in addition to a number of faculty members at Sudanese universities, university professors, college registrars and administrators at various university institutions.

At the end of the workshop, Dr. Suleiman Hammad Nasser, Dean of the Deanship of Student Affairs at the University, presented a set of recommendations in which he stressed the need for periodic review for continuous improvement of examination management, comprehensive digital transformation in teaching, implementation of examinations and results, which helps raise the university’s ranking locally, regionally and globally.
He also recommended the need to enhance the culture of comprehensive quality control and apply its standards from strategies and plans with implementation mechanisms to ensure obtaining local and international institutional accreditation.
