Russian Ambassador to Sudan Andrey Chernovol said that the Sudanese Army’s recent victories in the Republican Palace and Khartoum confirm that the legitimate authorities have confidently regained the initiative.
He noted that over the past months, the states of Gezira and Sennar have been almost completely liberated from the grip of the rebels. .

The army is close to eliminating the Rapid Support Forces group besieged in Khartoum.

The Russian ambassador added in an interview with the African Initiative newspaper that the rebels have finally shed their mask of “defenders of democracy and humanity” and have directed their wrath against the defenseless population.
They are clearly committing mass crimes against civilians, deliberately targeting airports, power plants, dams, and other civilian infrastructure using drones, exploiting any opportunity to achieve their goals.
This has even included the indiscriminate bombing of markets and hospitals, resulting in numerous casualties, in addition to ethnic cleansing.

The ambassador added that this “strategy” has weakened the reputation of the Rapid Support Forces leadership in the eyes of the vast majority of Sudanese، adding that most of the internally displaced persons are citizens who fled the rebels in search of safety under the protection of the army.
He pointed out that attempts by international officials and Western diplomats to equate the legitimate authorities with the Rapid Support Forces in its current form appear hypocritical, as they hold both sides equally responsible for the current complex humanitarian situation. It is clear that the forces behind the Rapid Support Forces are using them as a destabilizing tool to create conditions for external intervention and a freeze in the conflict for “humanitarian reasons,” while also seeking to partition the country. Their primary mission remains the same: to prevent any improvement in the situation, as this would inevitably lead to economic development in Sudan, something friendly countries, including Russia, are seeking to support.
