Ramadan Time to Remember Mothers

While sitting inside the bus heading to Al-Shawk, I was overwhelmed by my emotions and couldn’t hold back my tears. I wiped away a tear that had rolled down my cheek as childhood memories flooded my mind. Back then, we were little orphans, and whenever the sounds of quarrels echoed through our home, we thought no one could hear us or feel our pain.
But she did—our kind neighbor. She would always rush to us with food, thinking that hunger was the reason for our tears. We were not hungry; rather, we saw those moments as an opportunity to taste something different—food infused with warmth and affection that couldn’t be bought, a pure love from the heart of a compassionate mother.
May God have mercy on the mother of our brother Suleiman (John) and grant her eternal rewards. As we celebrate Mother’s Day this month, we deeply miss the kindhearted mothers of Arqweet, who were symbols of generosity and kindness. Thank you to the people of Arqweet for today’s communal breakfast. It is more than just a shared meal; it is an ongoing charity for the souls of the mothers and fathers who have departed, yet whose love continues to illuminate our hearts.
