Health Ministry celebrates the World Tuberculosis Day ” Yes, we can eliminate tuberculosis”

Acting Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Amal Abdo, confirmed during the press conference held at the Police Club Hall on the occasion of the celebration of the World Tuberculosis Day under the slogan “Yes, we can eliminate tuberculosis”, the occasion represents an opportunity to confirm the commitment to combating the disease and achieving tangible achievements.

Dr. Amal pointed out that the political, economic and security conditions greatly affect the treatment and access of services to patients, expressing her pride in the efforts of the Ministry and its partners in continuing to provide services through 148 centers in safe areas, and delivering treatment to war-affected states through cooperation with international and local organizations. It revealed that 14,310 cases of tuberculosis were detected in 2024.

Dr. Amal also explained the cooperation with the United Nations Development Program to rehabilitate three centers and continue to rehabilitate centers for planting tuberculosis samples in several states. She reiterated Sudan’s commitment to ending the disease with the support of local and international partners.
