British delegation in Port Sudan tomorrow

A high-ranking British delegation will arrive in the administrative capital, Port Sudan, tomorrow, Tuesday, on an official two-day visit.

According to diplomatic sources, the British delegation includes the Director-General of the British Foreign Office for Africa, the Americas and Overseas Territories, Harid Matthews, accompanied by the British Special Envoy to Sudan. The delegation will meet with a number of senior government officials to discuss a number of important files, most notably the humanitarian situation, the ceasefire and the resumption of the democratic transition.

The British Foreign Secretary for Africa, Lord Collins, during his meeting last Friday with the head of the Sudanese mission in London, Ambassador Babiker Al-Siddiq, reiterated his country’s position, which was announced by the British Permanent Representative to the United Nations before the Security Council session, rejecting the political charter signed by the Rapid Support Militia in Nairobi, and stressed the need to preserve Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
