Khartoum Health launches the national campaign to provide nutrition services in 3 localities

Dr. Fath al-Rahman Muhammad al-Amin, Director General of the Ministry of Health, Khartoum State, the Minister in Charge, launched the (National Integrated Campaign to Provide Nutrition Services) this morning at the Ministry’s headquarters by giving the child Asim Awad Fath al-Rahman a preventive dose of Vitamin A, announcing the launch of the campaign, which took place after two years of suspension due to the war under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Health and UNICEF in 3 localities in Khartoum State, in the presence of supervisors from the Federal Ministry, the Sudanese Doctors Association in America, directors of the health system in the targeted localities, and directors of departments at the Ministry of Health, Khartoum State.
Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Federal Minister of Health, stressed the importance of the integrated intervention campaign for malnutrition cases in the country achieving the necessary treatment for 85% of children, in addition to care for critical cases and providing precise incentives related to malnutrition and vitamin A to reduce those who lack immunization. During his address to the launch program, he directed the need for everyone to work together at the federal and state levels, as well as at the level of families and mothers, indicating that malnutrition is a multi-causal disease that requires multiple interventions and is not only caused by a lack of food, but there are other societal causes, represented by food cultures and the availability of clean drinking water, which resulted in an increase in malnutrition rates, especially due to the large displacement that exceeded 10 million citizens as a result of the Rapid Support Militia rebellion against the cities and states of Sudan, which resulted in a deterioration in health and nutritional conditions.
For his part, Dr. Fath Al-Rahman Muhammad Al-Amin, Director General of the Ministry of Health, Khartoum State, considered that the campaign program came at a time that is consistent with the stage that the country is going through to address the effects of the war and the violations of the rebel militia against citizens by besieging and starving them and systematically targeting the health sector, expressing his complete satisfaction with the performance of the General Administration of Primary Health Care, and attributed this to the fact that its cadres have formed a real presence since the outbreak of the war and have gained the satisfaction of all citizens and regulars, in addition to its rapid interventions in all liberated areas in Bahri Locality, pointing out that the most important priorities since he assumed the duties of the ministry are to recover the material rights of the cadres, and he explained that the policies of the next stage aim to qualify, train and recover rights and restructure the ministry and its openness and legalize the conditions of all employees in the ministry and that this year’s plan should be ambitious and provide a lot to the cadres working in the ministry, appreciating the role of organizations and businessmen for their solidarity with the ministry in this stage that the country is going through, and before that he thanked the Sovereignty Council and the Khartoum State Government for their unlimited support to the ministry by providing equipment and first aid and the Federal Ministry of Health for the high coordination.
Dr. Sanaa Gamal, Director General of Primary Health Care, confirmed that the campaign was carried out at the required time to provide nutritional services targeting children aged (6 months – 59 months), in addition to the campaign targeting about (253) children and (80,618) thousand women of childbearing age and distributing Fevol tablets and anti-worm pills, implemented by (1200) teams that were recently trained, noting that the campaign’s coverage of Karari, Ombada and Omdurman localities is considered a great progress and is awaiting the liberation of the rest of the localities soon so that they can be included in the upcoming nutritional campaigns.
Adam Salem Mohamed, the campaign supervisor from the Federal Ministry of Health, revealed the readiness of 46 health centers to receive referral cases from homes covered by the campaign (From Home to Home) that have all the necessary therapeutic foods, urging families to cooperate to enter homes and reach the target groups, pointing out the importance of immediate treatment for night labor cases whenever they are found in closed areas once they are liberated to protect children from these risks. Professor Abu Al-Qasim Adam Al-Tahir, Executive Director of Ombada Locality, representative of the localities in the launch program, appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Health, Khartoum State, in providing its treatment services and in the aspect of environmental health, which had a great impact on the citizens of Khartoum State to stand firm in difficult days with the steadfastness of heroes, and noted that the citizens in the localities welcome the nutritional campaign before conveying the thanks and gratitude of the executive directors for launching the campaign and targeting two important segments of society.
