Health Ministry confirms the state’s interest in upgrading the health sector after the destruction of the Militias

The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing and revitalizing the health sector, particularly in light of the extensive destruction of health facilities wrought by the ongoing conflict instigated by rebel militias. These armed groups have systematically targeted health facilities, thereby undermining the very foundations of healthcare provision within the nation.

During his speech, Dr. Ibrahim highlighted the exemplary sacrifices made by health care professionals, who have risen to the occasion, demonstrating an unparalleled dedication to delivering essential medical services to the populace despite these adversities.

This significant address took place during a specialized workshop focused on gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures, specifically targeting the gallbladder ducts and advanced pancreatobiliary intervention (ERCP). The workshop was held in collaboration with the esteemed Center for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. Among those present were prominent figures in the health sector, including Lieutenant General Police Advocate Mohamed Ibrahim Awadallah, Deputy Director-General and Inspector General, and Lieutenant General Police Doctor Amira Abbas Mohamed Fadl, who serves as the Director of the General Administration of Health Services, alongside Suleiman Hussein, President of the Sudanese Society of the Gastroenterology System, and Dr. Abdel Moneim Al-Tayeb, Director of the National Center. Such gatherings are pivotal for fostering advanced medical practices and ensuring the continued development of healthcare in the face of ongoing challenges.
