comprehensive public health campaign aimed at educating the populace on preventive measures. This urgent intervention was precipitated by the alarming acceleration of choleral cases, which surged to 1,351, alongside 58 attributable fatalities between 20 and 22 February.

The foundational cause of this outbreak was identified as the contamination of the city’s drinking water, which arose from the suspension of the main water supply facility. This disruption was directly linked to the targeting of the Um Dabakir power station by the militant faction known as the Rapid Support Militia.

In response to this crisis, the state government, alongside the Federal Ministry of Health and various strategic partners, convened coordination meetings designed to enhance the collaborative response at both state and federal levels.

A pivotal action taken was the recommissioning of the principal water facility in Kosti, alongside the execution of an extensive public health awareness initiative. This initiative sought to inform residents about hygiene practices, the importance of safe drinking water, and the recognition of choleral symptoms. These concerted efforts have been instrumental in curbing the upward trajectory of cholera cases in the region.
