Sleep, Health & Metal Health

By: Alaa Babiker

God has created the human brain and body in a very complex and amazing way. They both need fuel to operate and need time to rest to operate properly. Therefore, our health and mental health need quality sleep.

Sleep is often seen as a passive activity that takes time away from work, but in reality, it’s one of the most powerful productivity hacks available. Here’s why:
1. Boosts Cognitive Function:
– Sleep strengthens memory, enhances problem-solving skills, and improves decision-making.
– It allows your brain to consolidate new information, making learning more effective.
2. Increases Focus & Creativity:
– A well-rested mind can concentrate for longer periods and think more creatively.
– Sleep helps clear mental clutter, leading to sharper thinking and better problem-solving.
3. Enhances Emotional Resilience:
– Lack of sleep makes you irritable and more reactive to stress.
– Proper rest helps regulate emotions, improving communication and teamwork.
4. Optimizes Physical Health:
– Sleep supports immune function, reducing the likelihood of getting sick.
– It regulates hormones related to metabolism and appetite, preventing burnout.
5. Improves Decision-Making & Reaction Time:
– Sleep deprivation leads to poor judgment and slow reactions, reducing efficiency.
– A well-rested brain makes clearer, faster decisions.

Here are few advices how to increase productivity with Sleep:
– Prioritize 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.
– Maintain a consistent sleep schedule, even on weekends.
– Create a relaxing bedtime routine (limit screens, caffeine, and stress).
– Optimize your sleep environment (cool, dark, quiet room).

It is challenging to make quality sleep during difficult times specially at war, but we need to also consider our health and mental health at such phases. May Allah grant wisdom and positive thinking to our leader and Sudanese soldiers to end this war and secure the good lives of all Sudanese.
