Khartoum Health Ministry receives the UNHCR and briefs her on the status of medical institutions in light of the war

The Ministry of Health in Khartoum State received today the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Christina Hambo, and briefed her on the health situation and services provided by the ministry through 23 hospitals operating in safe areas and 124 health centers.
The Commissioner and the accompanying delegation visited Al-No Teaching Hospital and all its operating departments. Meanwhile, the Director General of Al-No Hospital, Dr. Jamal Al-Tayeb, put the most important requirements on her table, which are the hospital’s need for an oxygen plant, a CT scan machine, and solar energy to generate electricity, after he explained to her the high frequency of patients and the injured to the hospital since the outbreak of the war.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees stood on the extent of the destruction that affected the hot areas hospital and documented it with her personal phone camera in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Fadlallah Al-Bashir, Director General of Preventive Medicine and Director General of Organizations and Partnerships Dr. Hisham Abdullah and Dr. Al-Sadig Suleiman Yaqoub, Assistant Commissioner for Refugees in Khartoum State and the Northern States.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Bashir explained to the High Commissioner that the Hot Areas Hospital is the main reference hospital for endemic hot area diseases in Sudan, and the rebel militia used it as a military site and upon its exit from it, they completely destroyed the hospital and all the existing equipment, which makes its return to service one of the requirements of the Ministry of Health at this stage, stressing that increasing the safe geographical area requires the rehabilitation of hospitals destroyed by the war, noting that providing medical services contributes greatly to the return of citizens to their areas.
