The annual planning assessment meeting for nutrition in the year 2024, organized by the National Nutrition Program, was inaugurated at the prestigious Al-Rih Al-Tarifi Hall in Kassala city. The event kicked off under the inspiring slogan, “Together We Can Combat Malnutrition in Sudan.”
Addressing the esteemed gathering, Muhtadi Mahmoud, Acting Director of the General Department of Basic Health Care, expressed gratitude to the supporting organizations for their unwavering commitment to health. He commended the relentless efforts of the nutrition program, which has persistently shouldered significant responsibilities, even amidst the challenges posed by the preceding conflicts and the additional burdens brought by the recent war. He highlighted the disruptions caused by the Rapid Support Militia, particularly in the Darfur states, which have hampered the smooth distribution of food supplies.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah, the Acting Director of the General Administration of Basic Health Care in Kassala, emphasized the crucial role of ongoing field operations in enhancing supply chains. His insights underscored the pivotal role of collaborative efforts in combating malnutrition and ensuring the effective delivery of vital resources to those in need.
