Sovereignty Council mourns Professor Mohamed Ibrahim Khalil

Head and members of the Sovereignty Council mourn, with great sadness and sorrow and with hearts that believe in God’s will and destiny, the great scholar Professor Mohamed Ibrahim Khalil, who passed away in Virginia, USA, following an illness that did not give him much time.
The Sovereignty Council, while mourning him, mourns to the Sudanese people a unique and distinguished scholar, who is considered among the great and masters of law in the country, and a constitutional reference at the regional and international levels.
The deceased was the first Sudanese Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Khartoum after Sudanization, and during his career full of distinguished giving, he held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Justice, and he also assumed the presidency of the Constituent Assembly during the third democratic period. He also later assumed the presidency of the South Sudan Referendum Commission.
May Allah have mercy on the deceased and admit him into His spacious gardens with the prophets, the truthful, and the righteous.
May Allah inspire his family, relatives, students, and those who know his virtue with patience and good consolation.
