Guns for Hire: Recruitment of Ethiopian mercenaries for the Rapid Support Militia

The rebel Rapid Support Militia agreed with the Ethiopian army to recruit mercenaries for the militia in the Sidama region in southern Ethiopia.
Terms of the agreement:
– Recruitment of mercenaries from veterans of the regular forces or regional militias in addition to unemployed youth, and the mercenary must be no less than (18) years old and no more than (45) years old.
– Financial sums are paid to the Ethiopian army in exchange for the mercenaries.
– The agreed-upon work period ranges between (9) months and two years.
– A monthly salary of approximately USD 700 is paid to each mercenary.
– The salaries of the first three months are paid 24 hours before the mercenary is deported from Ethiopia.
– Life insurance for the mercenary, as the militia is committed to paying a large sum to his family after his death.
– The local authorities in the Sidama region follow up on the special situation of each mercenary, his rights from medical salaries and insurance in the event of death with a representative of the militia and the Ethiopian embassy in each of (Kenya, Uganda, Cameroon and Chad.)
– If the militia takes power in Sudan, communication will take place between the governments of the two countries regarding the rights of the mercenaries.
– Granting the mercenary a new identity from one of the countries (Kenya, Uganda, Cameroon and Chad) based on his level of proficiency in the Arabic language, he is granted the identity of one of the neighboring countries whose citizens speak Arabic.
Terms of service for mercenaries:
– Commitment to complete confidentiality.
– Not talking about the nature of the mission even with close relatives and camouflaging that he is in a rehabilitation course if his presence in the training camp is discovered.
– Avoiding photography and any media appearance during training or operations.
– Dealing with high professionalism when captured and not referring to the details of the agreement. And claiming that he came to fight personally in search of money.
– Using the new identity granted to the mercenary and concealing the Ethiopian identity and not showing it or recognizing his nationality no matter what happens.
