The Sudanese technical delegation concludes oil and gas talks with Russian companies

The delegation of the Sudanese Ministry of Energy and Oil concluded its talks in the field of oil and gas with Russian companies in Moscow by meeting with the companies “Zaporozheft, Gazprom and South Russia Company, in addition to visiting the All-Russian Petroleum Research Institute.
The delegation, led by Engineer Al-Sadig Jaber, Director General of the General Administration of Oil Exploration and Production at the Ministry of Energy and Oil, discussed with the aforementioned companies and the institute a number of projects that were put forward for investment in Sudan and cooperation between research centers in the two countries.
The delegation discussed with the Russian Zaporozheft Company at the Sudanese Embassy in Moscow, headed by the Sudanese Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Al-Ghazali, explaining the beginning of the company’s experience in Sudan with Sudapet in 2018, but it was not completed, hoping to resume work with it in light of the destruction witnessed by the oil sector in Sudan to benefit from its enormous capabilities, in restoring what was destroyed by the war.
For their part, the delegation of the Russian Zabrojneft Company listed the extent of the company’s experience in the field of petroleum, starting from exploration, through production, and then pipelines, refineries and other facilities, stressing that it has been operating for (57) years and has had a research center for seventy years. It is a government company in more than (20) countries in the world and is currently operating in Egypt, Vietnam, Cuba and Kazakhstan.
The company also owns a group of oil fields in Russia.
They stressed their support for the Russian-Sudanese trend towards developing relations and integrating roles through partnership in the petroleum sector. Al-Sadiq Jaber, Director General of Oil Exploration and Production, listed the opportunities available for investment in Sudan, referring to the Red Sea squares and square (8) in central Sudan, stressing the delegation’s readiness to facilitate the entry of Russian companies into Sudan.
However, the Sudanese Ministry of Energy and Oil has four requirements that must be provided by every company wishing to invest in Sudan, which are “preserving the environment and safety, adhering to legal aspects, technical capabilities and financial capabilities.”
The meeting with the Russian Gazprom Company also discussed the construction and financing of the Port Sudan refinery and the establishment of petroleum product pipelines (Madani, Sennar, Rabak) and the pipeline (Port Sudan, Gedaref, Galabat) in addition to the crude oil pipeline that passes through the White Nile underwater for a length of 80 kilometers in square (25).
For its part, the company’s delegation confirmed their desire to invest in Sudan, stressing that Gazprom is the largest company in Russia and we have more than (100) employees and the company specializes in building refineries and establishing underwater petroleum pipelines and storage warehouses in addition to other petroleum facilities adding that they built the largest refinery in Russia and established pipelines in Germany, Turkey, Burma and Russia.
The South Russia Company expressed its desire to invest in Block (17) by entering into a partnership with the Sudanese Sudapet Company.
The head of the company’s delegation said that we can repair the damaged wells and develop the fields to increase production in the aforementioned block, which started with high production and then declined, stressing that they are specialized in drilling and have the ability to drill deep into complex geological conditions and under unexpected pressure using advanced Russian technology, indicating that their start in drilling was with the French company Schlumberger and then they were able to develop the work besides working in the Black Sea and that they have advantages required by their refineries in Russia.
For his part, Engineer Al-Sadiq Jaber, Director General of Oil Exploration and Production, welcomed the company’s desire to work in Sudan in the fields of exploration, oil production and oil services, calling for bringing Russian technology to Sudan, stressing that he will work to overcome obstacles to reach a successful partnership with the Sudanese Sudapet in Block 17.
