IGAD Reitrates Commitment to Support South Sudan Peace Process

IGAD Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu received in his Office the Commander of the Ceasefire Monitoring Mission in South Sudan and IGAD Envoy to South Sudan, where he commended the efforts made to achieve the aspirations of the people towards a Stable and prosperous Region.

After the meeting, Dr. Gebeyehu posted the following on x platform:

“Peace and security are the cornerstones of development and regional stability.
Today, I received the Chairs of @CTSAMM_SSudan and @RJMECsouthsudan, alongside IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan, Amb. @ismail_wais, for updates on the implementation of the South Sudan peace agreement (RARCSS).
While significant strides have been made, much work remains ahead. IGAD remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the peace process in South Sudan, prioritizing the well-being and aspirations of its people. Together, we will continue to work towards a stable and prosperous region.”
