Dr. Shulgami launches an urgent appeal for the displaced people of East Gezira State

Sudanese human rights activist, Chairman of the Sudanese National Consumer Protection Authority, and pioneer
in the field of humanitarian work, Dr. Nasreldin Shulgami, launched an urgent appeal to all Sudanese inside and outside Sudan, and all organizations working in the field of humanitarian and health aid regionally and internationally to provide all possible humanitarian support to tens of thousands of Sudanese displaced people who fled East Gezira State
He said that the displaced people of East Gezira area are currently living in an open area around the city of Shendi, where there is a lack of shelter, potable water, food, health care, besides the spread of diseases.
He added that there has been much talk about opening the crossings to provide support to the displaced, but as for the tragedy of Gezira, the crossings are wide open where the delivery of humanitarian assistance is quite possible, but unfortunately there is no humanitarian response to the needy people there.
Dr. Shulgami called on all the concerned institutions to urgently initiate a humanitarian program to rescue those IDPs in order to ease their sufferings.
