Head of the TSC heads to China
Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan headed to China today, heading the Sudanese delegation participating in the 2024 China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC) Summit, which is hosted by the Chinese capital, Beijing, during the period from 4-6 of this month, with the participation of a number of African leaders, heads of regional and international organizations, besides the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
He was seen off at Port Sudan International Airport by a member of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General, Ibrahim Jaber, and the Secretary-General of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Mohamed Al-Gali Ali Youssef.
Al-Burhan and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a bilateral discussion session to enhance prospects for joint cooperation and create strategic partnerships between the two countries in all fields, in addition to reviewing issues of common interest.
A number of bilateral agreements will also be signed between the two sides in various fields.
On the sidelines of his participation in the forum, the Head of the Sovereignty Council will also hold meetings with a number of presidents and heads of delegations to enhance common interests, push relations to broader horizons, and create strategic partnerships between Sudan and those countries.
It is noteworthy that the forum, held under the title “Joining Forces to Promote Modernization and Build a High-Level Community of Shared Destiny between China and Africa”, will discuss opportunities and areas of joint cooperation between African countries and China.
The forum’s activities will include four high-level meetings on state governance, industrialization and agricultural modernization, peace and security, as well as high-quality cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The summit agenda includes the 8th Conference of Chinese and African Entrepreneurs, and the summit will also adopt two final documents, one a declaration and the other an action plan, to build broad consensus between the two sides and chart a course for implementing high-quality China-Africa cooperation in the next three years.
Al-Burhan will be accompanied during the visit by Ambassador Awad Hasban, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, and Acting Minister of Energy and Oil Mohi El-Din Naeem Mohamed Saeed.
