Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, 1st. Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan returned to the country today, after heading the Sudanese delegation participating in the meetings of the (79th) session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

He was received at Port Sudan International Airport by Member of the Sovereignty Council, Professor Abdullah Yahya, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Acting Prime Minister-designate Professor – Osman Hussein, Minister of Finance Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Labor-designate Professor Ahmed Ali Abdel Rahman, Governor of the Red Sea State, Lieutenant General Mustafa Muhammad Nour, and Lieutenant General Muhammad Al-Ghali Ali Yusuf, Secretary-General of the Sovereignty Council.

Al-Burhan had held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York with a number of presidents, focusing on ways to strengthen bilateral relations and review the prospects for joint cooperation, develop and enhance it between Sudan and those countries.

He also delivered Sudan’s speech, during which he reviewed the developments in the situation in Sudan and the efforts made to resolve the Sudanese crisis, end the war and establish peace, stressing that the will of the Sudanese people will prevail, renewing the government’s keenness to engage in any initiative that ends this war whenever this initiative supports national ownership of the solution and ends the occupation of the rebel militias, which are internationally and regionally banned, of the various regions, calling on the United Nations to describe the militia in a true manner as an armed force that rebelled against the state and committed crimes that amount to its classification as a terrorist group,
stressing the commitment of the armed forces to the democratic transformation process and the right of the Sudanese people to choose who governs them.
