NVU Organizes Peace Culture Symposium in Light of Conflicts

In continuation of its societal role in contributing to society and developing scientific solutions, and in confirmation of its national role in striving and contributing to solving societal issues and developing scientific solutions, Nile Valley University (NVU) organized this morning in the Jerash Hall under the presidency of the university in Atbara a lecture entitled Peace Culture in Light of Conflicts, in which Dr. Zuhair Abdel Rahman, the psychological expert and director of the Al-Zaher Center for Training and Family Studies, spoke about the psychological effects of war, defining peace and its types, and spoke about the side effects resulting from the violations of the Rapid Support Militia, explaining the controls of Islamic law in the event of war, represented in respecting the rights of the prisoner and not exposing him.
He also spoke about the severe damage of negative customs and traditions and behavior such as racism, tribal fanaticism, and disrespect for the rights of others, and about the negative secretions of wars.
Dr. Zuhair said that it includes fanaticism, which promotes tribalism and destroys the social fabric, indicating the role of universities in these circumstances, represented in spreading knowledge and science, accepting others, raising awareness, spreading the culture of peace, working on national unity and community cohesion, paying attention to peace issues, and enhancing opportunities for coexistence among all. He called on universities to pay attention to spreading this culture.
For his part, Dr. Abdullah Musa Yaqoub, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Al-Fasher University, also spoke, praising the role and contributions of the NVU, thanking them for the good reception and hospitality, indicating the country’s need during this period for the importance of peaceful coexistence and promoting the culture of peace, which is considered one of the most important duties of universities during this period.
For his part, Professor Hassan Al-Hajj Al-Sa’im, Vice-Chancellor of the NVU pointed out the roles that the university has continued to play in working on the grips of peace and national unity, represented in holding training courses for expatriates and seminars that achieve the goals of peace and community peace.
During his speech, he stressed the university’s commitment to implementing the recommendations of the lecture.
The lecture was attended by the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Nile Valley University, Dr. Al-Amin Al-Tayeb Al-Tahir, Professor Abdul Rahim, the Director of the Student Welfare Fund in the State, the Deans of the Faculties, and number of faculty members, employees, and students.
The lecture was dominated by many rich interventions and recommendations that the University Vice-Chancellor stressed adoption and endeavor to implement with the assistance of the relevant authorities.
