Minnawi Congratulates Sudanese People on the Occasion of Army Day

“On the occasion of Army Day, I congratulate the Sudanese people on one of their greatest achievements, which is the establishment of the army from their pure Sudanese army seventy years ago, when many people in the world dreamed but were unable to build such an institution.
despite the shameful politicization that has befallen this institution by the elites and politicians who have distorted the army for political interests, and have also manipulated it to favor one element over another, it still remains the only institution that can preserve the country’s sovereignty and save its targeted unity. This does not prevent us from talking about reforming it as long as it is an institution for which the Sudanese people sacrificed the blood of their sons and daughters. After the end of this war, the first steps must begin, which is reform, so that the army institution can regain its nationalism, restore its pride, and avoid the mistakes of the past. Civilian institutions also suffer from the same diseases.
