GIS Evacuates a Group of Christian Community Members from Central Khartoum to Omdurman

The Sudanese General Intelligence Service (GIS) has carried out qualitative operations to evacuate more than 100 Christian community individuals from central Khartoum to Omdurman.

Member of the Salesian Dambosco Association affiliated with the Catholic Church, Priest Jacob Dala Karand, said that the Rapid Support Militia’s attack on them forced him to leave his home to the association’s headquarters near the Al-Shajara area, noting that the association has a group of nuns who care for children and some families.

Jacob added, “The period of stay at the association’s headquarters was not easy, especially after the food ran out in the first months, the electricity and communications were cut off, and the association’s headquarters was damaged by random shelling.
He expressed his happiness with the in-kind support provided to them by the GIS (food supplies, water filters, and a Starlink device), in addition to treating patients.

For his part, the General Intelligence officer responsible for the evacuation process confirmed that the service had been following up on the Christians with great interest and under the direct guidance of the Director General of the Service, and they had been waiting throughout the past period to find an evacuation method that would ensure their safety.

He added, “After we got them to Omdurman, we began the procedures for their travel to their countries.”
