Al-Burhan meets the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, 1st. Lt. Gen. Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan received in his office, yesterday, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mrs. Amina Mohamed, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Awad, and the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ramadan Lamamra.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement that the meeting discussed the developments of the situation in Sudan, indicating that the Head of the Sovereignty Council briefed the UN official on the situation in the country and the efforts undertaken by the government to open safe corridors to deliver humanitarian aid to citizens, considering that this aid contributes to relief Sudanese citizens who have been affected by the atrocities committed by the rebel terrorist rapid support militia, adding that the government of Sudan has shown great cooperation with the United Nations to deliver this aid by opening up many of the crossings through which relief passes. Including the Adri crossing on the border with Chad.
The foreign minister added that Sudan is urging the United Nations to work and put pressure on the rebels who are obstructing the arrival of this aid. In addition, they seize relief convoys and distribute them to their various entities.
He added that despite the Sudanese government’s apprehension about the Adri crossing, the government cooperated and opened this crossing to cut any negative talk about its failure to save its people.
He explained that Sudan has called on the United Nations to condemn all violations committed by the rebel terrorist rapid support militia against civilians and its failure to respect international law. Ambassador Hussein said that the UN official also held meetings with the Deputy Head f the Sovereign Council and a number of members of the Council, as it focused in its entirety on the developments of the situation in Sudan, against the background of the rebellion led by the terrorist Rapid Support Militia against the state and its institutions.
For her part, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations said that her visit to the country came to see the developments in the situation in Sudan, appreciating the step taken by the Sudanese government to open the Adri border crossing for the passage of humanitarian aid to the citizens affected by the war, stressing that the international organization welcomes the government’s cooperation to delivering food to the needy, indicating that the humanitarian crisis requires the cooperation of all humanitarian actors in the field to save the Sudanese who are besieged in the conflict zones, noting the urgent need for humanitarian response by international organizations working in the humanitarian field to help women and children. She said that the United Nations also pays attention to the Sudanese refugees who have left their country towards neighboring countries and is working to support and assist them, indicating that she was accompanied by the envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, in order to emphasize the need to find solutions to the Sudanese crisis and stop the suffering of the Sudanese.
This could be done by implementing what was agreed upon in the Jeddah Forum.
