Al-Burhan Meets Justice Minister

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, 1st. Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan met today with the Acting Minister of Justice, Dr. Moawia Mohamed Khair Ahmed, in the presence of Abu Bakr Omar Ahmed Al-Bashir, Judge of the Supreme Court and Head of the Liaison Office of the Government of the Republic of Sudan with the International Criminal Court.

The Minister of Justice said in a press statement, “The meeting discussed a number of judicial issues, in addition to the positive issues mentioned in the report of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, which included positive cooperation between the Government of Sudan and the Court.

He said, “We believe that this is a clear understanding of the efforts made by Sudan to achieve justice and prevent impunity.”

The Minister of Justice added that the meeting discussed the activities undertaken by the Ministry, represented in the files of international cases that the Ministry of Justice and the International Committee for International Cases intend to confront the rebel terrorist militia and the countries supporting it in the near future and the formation of the emerging technical committee, which is at the core of its competencies, this task.

The Minister of Justice indicated that the meeting touched on reforming many legal legislations during the next stage, noting that he informed the Head of the Council of the results of his recent visit to the State of Rwanda and his meeting with his Rwandan counterpart, during which aspects of joint cooperation were discussed in the fields of training and rehabilitation in the following transitional justice and preventing impunity, especially since the Rwandan experience in transitional justice is very similar to the Sudanese experience in this field.
