Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs a d Immigration,Badr Addin Abdul Ati received the Sudanese Foreign Minister, Huusein Awad, in Tuesday 23 July, 2024, in a bilateral meeting, followed an expanded session of talks, with the participation of the delegations of the two countries.

For his part, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, said in a press statement after the meeting, that Dr. Badr Addin Abdul Ati was keen to emphasize Egypt’s continued support towards the stability and safety of the State of Sudan and its brotherly people, and that Egypt would spare no effort to help the Sudanese brothers to overcome the political, security and humanitarian challenges arising from the ongoing war, pointing out to the conference of the Sudanese political and civil forces, which was held in Cairo on July 6 and 7, as a comprehensive platform for all Sudanese civil political forces, relief and humanitarian for Sudan and neighboring countries, and the ownership of the Sudanese people for the political process.

He added that Dr. Abdel-Aty reviewed the position regarding the implementation of Egyptian development projects in Sudan, such as the electrical interconnection project, the rebuilding and development of the port of Wadi Halfa..
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of donor countries and donor organizations to expedite their commitments during the Geneva (June 2023) and Paris (April 2024) conferences to support Sudan and the refugee-receiving neighboring countries and support the humanitarian response plan of the United Nations, and bridging the existing financing gap, noting Egypt’s intense contacts with all donor countries and humanitarian organizations to urge them to share their burdens with the government in Sudan and neighboring countries. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration also stressed that Egypt will continue to extend a hand of humanitarian aid and support to the Sudanese brothers, in light of the difficult and unprecedented conditions they are going through.
For his part, the Sudanese minister was keen to emphasize the eternity of bilateral relations and high-level coordination between the two political leaderships in both countries, and the Egyptian initiatives to resolve the crisis in Sudan.
In this context, the two ministers discussed the regional initiatives proposed to deal with the Sudanese crisis, and agreed on the important and pivotal role of Sudan’s neighboring countries and the importance of consulting their opinion and LISTENING to their vision, especially Egypt, which is making strenuous efforts to help Sudan. At this important time and the critical moment in its contemporary history.
In this context, the two ministers were keen to address the various aspects of bilateral relations and ways to activate joint coordination mechanisms, in addition to a number of important regional files, especially the situation in the Horn of Africa, the crisis of the Gaza Strip, the security of the Red Sea, the situation in Libya, the Sahel and the Sahara region, as well as the issue of GERD, which the two ministers emphasized is the congruence of the two countries’ stance towards it, in light of the water security unity of Egypt and Sudan.
