Interior Minister discusses security and counter-terrorism issues with police chiefs

Minister of the Interior, Khalil Pasha Sairin, met with Mr. Mauro Medicchio, Director of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, on the sidelines of his participation in the fourth meeting of police chiefs in New York, to discuss issues related to strengthening security and combating terrorism.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the current security challenges facing the region and the entire world, and stressed the importance of international cooperation in confronting the phenomenon of terrorism.
Interior Minister touched on the national efforts made to enhance security capabilities and combat terrorism, especially the actions committed by the Rapid Support militia, stressing the importance of exchanging experiences and information between countries to enhance global security.
For his part, Mr. Mauro Medicchio praised the efforts made by the Ministry of the Interior in enhancing security and combating terrorism, and stressed the support of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism for such efforts, pointing out to the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation between international organizations and national governments to confront common security challenges.

The two sides also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism in the areas of training, exchanging experiences, and developing joint programs aimed at raising the efficiency of the security services and improving their response to security challenges. They agreed on the importance of joint work to enhance technical and human capabilities to combat terrorism, and to continue exchanging intelligence information between countries to identify and prevent terrorist threats.
