Agar meets the Russian Foreign Minister

Deputy Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander Malik Agar, affirmed Sudan’s keenness to strengthen, promote and develop bilateral relations with Russia in all fields, especially strategic, political and economic.

During his meeting in St. Petersburg today, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergio Lavrov, in the presence of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Minerals, and the Sudanese Ambassador to Russia, Agar provided complete enlightenment on the situation in Sudan, developments in the military operations, and the government’s vision on stabilizing the situation and establishing peace.

He expressed his hope for Russia’s support and support for Sudan in the reconstruction stage, pointing out that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a good opportunity for companies and economic institutions to work in Sudan.

Agar affirmed Sudan’s readiness to revitalize and activate the joint agreements and committees between the two countries, especially the Political Consultation Committee, the Joint Ministerial Committee, and the Military Committee, to develop plans and programs and draw a clear road map to develop work to reach the strategic partnership stage.

Agar delivered a written message from the Head of the Sovereignty Council, 1st. Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, who assigned his Foreign Minister to receive the message for urgent reasons that prevented him from meeting with the Deputy Head of the Sovereignty Council.

For his part, Lavrov conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Head of the Sovereignty Council, expressing his appreciation to the Deputy Head of the Sovereignty Council for explaining the situation in Sudan and the developments on the ground.

He assured the availability of the political will on both sides to develop and promote relations in all fields in a way that achieves the common interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
