Patience!

By: Alaa Babiker

Life is manageable, but humans complicate it and sometimes deliberately hardens it. Thousands of years ago, everything took ages to be completed; preparing meals for instance took hours and all the family members stood waiting, patiently. Starting fire took longer times than just one click of the automatic stove, and yet everyone tried and eventually succeeded.

The development of life and recent technology improvements has taught us “not to take time” doing anything. Speed has taken over all the markets; and all the lives as well. Everyone nowadays is doing everything, and expecting reaults with much of impatience. The true sentence (good things take time) has been replaced with (how fast can you do it?!), how can we get back to the times of patiently do what we need to do in order to accomplish, learn from our mistakes, start from the beginning, and share our fails with everyone for future learning purposes, which has become rare and even unique at some cases!

In many of the less developed countries, learnig to be patient has been removed from the educational systems. Students of important fields like medical and politics should have special course names (how to be patient!). A doctor writes all types of medical tests for every single patient, without having the time and patience to listen to all the medical history of his patients! Non patient, and non ethical! A politician makes a rapid decision that will negatively impact an entire nation without having the minimum amounts of patience to rethink his decision or reconsider all the involved internal and external factors.

With patience comes wisdom, accuracy, and correct decisions. It’s better to rethink and reconsider than regret and repentance.

In the end, may God grant wisdom upon our leaders to end the war in our beloved country; Sudan.
