FM Comments on the Libyan Initiative

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, stated that the Sudanese government has not received any details regarding the Libyan initiative,adding that I Libya expressed during the recent visit of the Head of the Transitiinal Sovereignty Council to Tripoli its desire to launch an initiative to achieve peace in Sudan and end the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
He pointed out that there are currently movements between Tripoli and Ankara to develop and coordinate efforts, but
Sudan has not yet received any outlines of the initiative.
The Minister reiterated Sudan’s commitment to Jeddah Platform, stressing that it is the only platform for negotiations with the RSF militia.
Meanwhile, Al-Sadiq revealed movements and contacts being made by the African Union Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) which visited Sudan recently.
He indicated that the APSA is still gathering information and contacting parties involved in the political process in Sudan before taking any step or initiative that forms the basis for the peaceful process in Sudan.
