Central Chamber of the National Campaign for Disease Vector Control and Environmental Sanitation held its second meeting today, headed by head of the Chamber and Acting Director of the General Administration of Primary Health Care at the Federal Ministry of Health FMOH Muhtadi Mahmoud, to follow up on the activities of the campaign that was launched in many states, addition to a report on the activities implemented at the crossings and entry points.
Committee’s rapporteur, Dr. Zainab Al-Rih, reviewed the results of the entomological survey carried out before the launch of the campaign, that pointed out an increase in the density of disease vectors, particularly the vectors of malaria and dengue fever, in 8 states, thus increasing infection rates.
She noted that these results accelerated the establishment of the national campaign for disease vector control and environmental sanitation. In the mentioned states.
Al-Riha pointed out that reports have arrived on the campaign, which will last between 30 and 45 days, with variations in the beginning of the launch according to each state.
In addition, Noha Abdullah, responsible for disease surveillance at entry points, said that the entry points include the northern and Red Sea sectors, noting the formation of an operations room for each sector after addressing the administrations of the crossings and entry points, and then several interventions were implemented there, including a campaign to combat disease vectors, environmental sanitation, and strengthening activities. the health.
Director of the General Department of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, Dr. Al-Fadil Mohamed Mahmoud, considered the implementation of the entomological survey before the launch of the campaign an important intervention that gives the actual image of the density of disease vectors in terms of its decline, calling for assigning federal supervision with administrative cadres to support the work.
At the end of the meeting, the Acting Director of the General Administration of Basic Health Care, Muhtadi Mahmoud, noted the importance of continuing regular work after the end of the campaign so that we can control the risk factors that cause epidemics related to environmental health in general.
