Reports Reveal A decrease in Incidence of Epidemic Diseases

Reports received by the Federal Ministry of Health FMOH revealed a decrease in the rates of epidemic diseases represented by cholera and dengue fever in the states affected by them, except for a slight increase in dengue fever in the states of North Kordofan, North Darfur and Kassala.
Acting Director of the General Department of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, Dr. Al-Fadil Mohamed Mahmoud, said in a press statement following the 31st meeting of the Federal Emergency Operations Center today in the meeting room of the Public Health Laboratory in Kassala that the meeting discussed the epidemic reports prepared by the Surveillance and Information Department, where a clear decrease in disease rates appeared. Epidemiological and non-reporting of new deaths, and the health promotion report, that included interventions in cholera, dengue fever, theatrical troupes, and mobile troupes, as well as the quarantine report (air, land, and sea crossings), including activities implemented to monitor health conditions at crossing points, challenges, and recommendations.
Mahmoud pointed out discussing the workflow in hospitals and health centers and supporting the states affected by the war (Kordofan and Darfur states) to implement activities to confront epidemic diseases. And to ensure the continuation of service there, announcing formation of a team work from different departments of the ministry, noting the need to ensure the continuation of work in Gezira state as a committee was formed from the ministry and health departments in the state to ensure the continuity of services.
Meanwhile, Mahmoud noted the discussion of the progress of the national campaign for disease control, environmental sanitation and health promotion, and the presentation of detailed reports about it.
Affirming continued development of an early preparedness plan for the fall emergency while continuing to intensify activities in areas affected by epidemics, and emphasizing good coordination between health and organizations by activating disease surveillance and monitoring health conditions, and activating the Health and Nutrition Office at the Humanitarian Aid Commission to facilitate procedures with organizations and ensure the implementation of activities. Mahmoud acknowledged that the interruption of communication networks contributed to reducing the number of states reporting epidemic diseases to 6 states out of a total of 18 states, which requires finding alternatives to communicate with the states to monitor health conditions and avoid epidemic outbreaks.
