The Missing Ingredient For Reconstruction

There is a broad agreement among those advocating peace through negotiations that the following steps should usher a Different Sudan built on the ruins of what the war has left.For this to happen, we need wide ranging, root and branch metamorphosis. That can begin with acknowledging the necessity of widening the scope of efforts. Reform should include social matters and not be restricted to politics. The environment should be moved towards centre stage.The same should apply to education .Lessons should be learned in cooperation with international actors.Never antagonise them but shrewdly implement only what is best for our economy. Even Barack Obama has written that sticking to the whole IMF neoliberal recipe is not advisable. When we religiously stuck to it , we gave the people the impression that they were shortchanged by democracy. That galvanised those who opposed democratic transformation and helped the counterevolutionary backlash against Dr Hamdouk’s cabinet. After peace a different Sudan can only be erected with salient metamorphosis.
