The Deputy UNDP Resident Representative congratulates Health Ministry for accepting the grant for malaria, tuberculosis, and AIDS for the next three years
Within the framework of strengthening the smart partnership between the Federal Ministry of Health and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Federal Minister of Health in charge of Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, met – today – with Deputy UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Thair Shraideh and discussed UNDP activities in the health sector in Sudan in light of the challenges currently represented in the provision of life-saving medicines, medical equipment, and medical operations.
Within this framework, UNDP has committed to supporting the Federal Ministry of Health to overcome these challenges by continuing to support the activities of tuberculosis and AIDS malaria programs, strengthening the health system and basic health care, and continuing with projects initiated before the war.
The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, welcomed the representative of the programme, praising the efforts of the UNDP in Sudan, pointing out that the focus is on the importance of health development projects, stressing the continuation of joint cooperation and overcoming all obstacles facing the program.
For his part, Mr. Thair Shraideh, stressed the continued support and partnership, congratulating the Federal Ministry of Health for approving the proposal submitted to the program for the grant of global support to combat malaria, AIDS, and tuberculosis for the next three years, noting that the proposal was prepared in difficult and complex circumstances.
Mr. Thair Shraideh reviewed the achievements of the programme and activities during the previous period, stressing that joint cooperation contributes to overcoming challenges, thanking the ministry for its efforts during the previous period and carrying out great work, and providing service under difficult circumstances that Sudan is going through.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties stressed the importance of joint cooperation and work to benefit from the grants provided by the programme.
