Darfur Governor Meets Turkish Ambassador

The Governor of the Darfur Region, Commander Minni Arki Minnawi met yesterday in his office at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Government of the Darfur Region, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Sudan, Mr. Ismail Chopin Oqlu.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed activating relations in various fields, focusing on cooperation in the field of airlines, by opening a route between Istanbul and Darfur, with the possibility of opening a Turkish consulate in one of the cities of the region.
For his part, Minnawi emphasized the importance of direct trade exchange between Darfur Region and Turkey.
The Governor praised the specificity of the Sudanese-Turkish relations, lauding the deep-rooted relations between Darfur Region and Turkey, recalling the unlimited support provided by the Turks during the past years, especially the maintenance of historical facilities and archaeological sites by Turkey, on top of which the Palace of Sultan Ali Dinar.
For his part, the Turkish ambassador praised the development in the bilateral relations of relations between the two countries, describing it as of an exceptional nature due to the strong historical and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
