Daglo:Abyei Issue must be settled

The Vice- President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and head of the Sudanese negotiating delegation, Lieutenant General, Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, has confirmed that the two parties in Sudan and South Sudan represent one people in two states and that flexible bargain is the basis of communication between the two peoples, stressing the strong relations linking the two countries.

Daglo, addressing, today at the Peace Rotana Hotel, the conclusion of the work of the joint committee between Sudan and South Sudan on the Abyei region, in the presence of the two negotiating delegations and member of the Sovereignty Council, Taher Hajar, stressed that the Abyei issue is fundamental and needs a solution that addresses the root causes of the differences, referring to the interest in joint work that leads to solutions.

He lauded the joint and great cooperation between the Misseriya and the Ngok Dinka by virtue of their being the residents of the region.

“We are keener on stability Sudan as well as South Sudan” He said

He stressed the importance for the implementation of all agreements, especially since the Abyei region is demilitarized, a matter that, must be respected by all parties.
