Circles: Armed Forces IS the Command

The Sudanese Armed Forces said today that paramilitary forces headed by General Mohammed Hamdan Daglo had mobilized troops in the capital Khartoum and other Cities -a move that raises the prospect of confrontation with the armed forces.

The army said that the Rapid Support Forces “RSF” movements represented a “clear violation of law “, in a rare comment on an ongoing dispute that has hampered a planned transition to democracy.

These movements and deployments happened without the agreement of the leadership of the armed forces or even coordination with it, the army spokesman said, their continuation will lead to more tension and divisions that could lead to insecurity in the country.

The statement of the armed forces gives indications that the differences between the armed forces and RSF are reaching a crucial point particularly when the technical joined committee between them failed to set a timetable regarding the program of integration according to the framework agreement and achieving the goal of one unified army. The integration also includes the armed struggle movements.

The basis of the conflict between the armed forces and the RSF is on Command and control, but legally and constitutionally the Sudanese Armed Forces has a supreme responsibility to protect the country, its security, stability and territorial integrity and has the duty to fight for the sovereignty and the dignity of the country.

No room for any other troops to be outside the Command of the Armed Forces either RSF or struggle movements. The differences between the armed forces and the RSF should be solved immediately and it should be dealt with wisely and peacefully away from armed confrontation.

We should keep in view that the dismantling of the states happens as a result of dismantling of its armed forces, we are all responsible to stand strongly and back up the Armed forces to achieve the strategic goal of one army, one people.
