Sudan’s Leadership in Food Security Partnership Workshop Kicks-off

The central unit of the partnership between the public and private sectors in the Ministry of Finance and the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies (AcoGaps) held a workshop titled (Sudan’s Leadership in Food Security) at Coral Hotel on Sunday March 12th, 2023.

The opening session was addressed by the Finance Ministry and Economic Planning Undersecretary, Mohamed Bashar, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Agriculture, Ms. Abla Malik, Minister of Agriculture in Darfur Region, Salah Hamid Al-Wali, Secretary-General of the AcoGaps, Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abdine, Director General of the Central Unit of the Partnership in the Ministry of Finance.

Secretary-General of the AcoGaps, Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abdine stated that the workshop aims at reviewing the reality of food security in Sudan, the challenges ahead, the structures, the legislations, plans and achievements, besides enlightenment on the Arab Food Security Initiative and its implementation, along with proposing the best means of boosting the partnership and determining the roles of each public and private sectors.

The workshop will discuss several working papers on food security diplomacy, partnerships, and the contribution of rural sector in achieving the food security, besides the role of Sudanese expatriates in achieving food security.

The workshop is participated by a number of companies, businessmen, academics, experts, officials from the related national institutions and UN agencies.
