Sudanese-Somali Investment and Trade Forum to be held in Mogadishu

The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Ahlam Madani Mahdi, chaired today in her office at the Ministry of Investment a preparatory meeting for the Sudanese-Somali Investment and Trade Forum to be held in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, from 18-19 March.
The forum will be held in organization with the Sudanese Embassy in Mogadishu under the slogan (Brotherhood and Partnership).
The preparatory meeting included representatives of a number of technical and economic authorities, the Capital Markets Authority, the Khartoum Stock Exchange, the Sudanese Buisnessmen Union, and the Ministries of Industry, Trade and Foreign Affairs.
The minister stated that the main objective of organizing the forum is to strengthen Sudanese-Somali relations and to hold investment and economic partnerships between the two countries in a number of different fields, indicating that the Somali capitals have a great desire to be present and invest in Sudan, noting to the interest and interaction of the government side for the forum.
She expressed pleasure with the participation of the authority to regulate financial markets, calling for preparation of a memorandum for twinnship between the two capitals Khartoum and Mogadishu, as well as to prepare a memorandum for businessmen and send it for study to be ready for signature.
The Director of the Promotion Department at the Ministry of Investment Islam Al-Sadiq, reviewed the course of preparation for the forum’s programs, calling for the need for diversity in participation and the support of different sectors according to the Somali side’s requirements and desires, especially government companies, and an invitation was extended to an estimated number of companies in both the public and private sectors.
Meanwhile, the representative of the Capital Markets Authority, Mahmoud Farouk, spoke about the financial markets and their organization, the work of the Stock Exchange, and highlighting the importance of financing and investment funds.
