South Sudan to Host Grate Lake Conference

The deputy speaker of the South Sudanese parliament said Juba will host grate lake conference next Friday 31th.

The great lakes conference is an intergovernmental organization that brings together 12 countries.

The member states are Sudan, South Sudan, DR Cong, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Congo Brazzaville, Burundi, Angola, Zambia and Central Africa Republic.

Nathainel Oyet   said parliamentary speakers and legislatives from the African countries will attend the conference to discuss parliamentary diplomacy in enhancing conflict resolution, mitigating conflicts in the region and fostering peace and greater integration of the African countries, especially the member’s states.

The grate lake parliament conference is different from the East Africa parliament in that its not well structured while the EAC legislative assembly is sitting parliament

South Sudan pushed to host this year’s conference during last year event which was held in Nairobi under leadership of Kenya’s outgoing speaker.
