President of the TSC reveals positive indicators for civilian government formation

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, said in an interview with the Qatari Al-Sharq newspaper that there are positive signs that a consensus will be reached and the formation of a civilian government will prepare the environment for elections.
Al-Burhan indicated, during his dialogue with the East, that there are parties – which he did not name – that he said want to undermine the Sudanese state through tribal fighting, regional wars, and questioning the leadership and the army.
The head of the Sovereignty Council said that Sudan is facing great challenges and is going through an exceptional transitional period that requires all national forces to accomplish the tasks of the transitional period.
The head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council renewed the military establishment’s commitment to the “framework agreement” and its support for the desired democratic transition process and its exit from the political scene.
Al-Burhan declared working with all parties and persuading those who resisted to reach a final agreement, assuring that the political process cannot reach its goals in isolation from the rest of the political forces.
Al-Burhan renewed his rejection of any regional and international interference in Sudanese affairs, and any conditional foreign support or aid
Volker ‘optimistic’
The head of the United Nations Transition Support Mission in Sudan (Volker Peretz) had expressed his “optimism” that the Sudanese parties would soon reach a political settlement, without giving details.l
Speaking at a press conference of the Security Arrangements Committee for Darfur yesterday, Volcker indicated that there are some forces that may resist efforts to reach a political settlement because they are linked to the current situation, without mentioning them.
“Framework Agreement”
Last June, the Sudanese parties signed an agreement aimed at ending the political crisis in the country in preparation for the formation of a civilian government to complete the transitional period. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of a regional, international and diplomatic presence.
The Sudanese army and civilian leaders signed an agreement, paving the way for the formation of a civilian government and an end to a political and economic crisis that has plagued the country since the measures taken by Al-Burhan on October 25, 2021.
The agreement consists of 5 main clauses, which are “general principles, issues and tasks of the transition, transitional authority structures, regular bodies, and issues of the final agreement.”
