Opening of Border crossings between Blue Nile and Benishangul-Gumuz Regions

The joint security committee of the conference on development of border relations between the Blue Nile region and the Ethiopian Benishangul-Gumuz Region, has recommended cooperation in the field of security, reopening border crossings, supporting voluntary return, as well as exchanging information and setting up joint security and military committees.

The recommendations of the Economic, Agricultural, Livestock and Fisheries Committee included a number of issues related to enhancing cooperation, establishing a preferential trade zone, forming joint economic technical committees, encouraging economic studies along with reactivating protocols in the field of customs, standards, agricultural quarantine, environmental protection, and implementing some marketing projects between the public and private sectors.

Meanwhile, the recommendations of the Community and Media Committee called for promoting health, forming joint mechanisms between the two sides, exchanging experiences and visits, establishing and developing joint studies and research centers in the field of education development and creating a partnership between the Voluntary Return Commission in the region with the institutions that work to take care for refugees in the two countries.
