Minnewi Hails  Libyan Cabinet  Decision of Conducting Studies on Sudan/ Libya Continental Highway

The Governor of Darfur Region,  Mini Arko Minnawi has praised the decision No.(127) of the Cabinet of the Libyan National Unity Government regarding the contracting in which it was decided conducting studies  on the  continental road that links Sudan and Libya

Minawi disclosed that he was selected as the chairman of the Ministerial Committee between the  Libyan government and Sudan

A meeting between the two parties will take place in Khartoum in the upcoming days.

“We highly appreciate the decision of the cabinet of the Libyan national unity government No. (127) regarding the contract in which it was decided to conduct studies of the continental road that links Sudan with Libya” he said.

He said the step proves the seriousness of the Libyan government on fruitful dealing with Sudan, noting that the commercial chambers between Sudan and Libya are composed of the benefiting regions and states including Darfur, North Kurdfan and the Northern State. He added that the Libyan government has constructed a road from Al Kufra to Sudan in the region of Melleet .

Minnawi went on to say that this is a confirmed commitment and now the Libyan government has embarked on conducting the studies on the proposed road .He said “we from our part as the Sudanese side seek to establish a commercial chamber between Darfur and Libya.

He disclosed that contacts  between the two governments started in an early time particularly in the framework of the region government of outward looking policy towards all countries neighboring  the region particularly in the borderline trade

He said Darfur cannot be stabilized and revived without improving the livelihood and this requires opening up the region to the neighborhood countries and export of merchandise that is exchanging benefits between the neighborhood countries

Darfur region governor affirmed that the most important neighboring countries that we can benefit from them are (Libya,  Chad, Central Africa and South Sudan) but the region benefits more from the two states of Libya and Chad

He revealed that endeavors between the State of Chad and the region’s government to open a Chadian consulate in El-Fashir are underway.
