Media Training Workshop on Child’s Rights in Darfur Region Kicks-off

The Journalist for Children Organization (JFC) in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), organized a training workshop for media professionals in the Darfur region on the role of the media in promoting children’s rights, protecting girls against Female Genital Mutilation or Cutting (FGM/C), and advocating for Article (141).
With the participation of media professionals and journalists from all five states of Darfur , the Executive Director of (JFC) Organization , Ms. Enaam Muhammad Al-Tayeb, and a number of members of the organization, in El Fasher, the activities of the training workshop began, which is implemented by (JFC) in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) .
Mr. Magdi Youssef Al-Zein, President of the Journalists for Children Organization (JFC) in North Darfur State, He reviewed the stages of the formation of the organization and the programs and projects implemented during the last period.
The Executive Director of the(JFC), Ms. Enaam Muhammad Al-Tayeb, referred to the objectives of the workshop, which comes in order to raise awareness and combat the Practice of Female Genital Mutilation(FGM) of girls and advocate for Article 141 of the Sudanese Criminal Code. , Meanwhile the Director of Programs and Projects of the (JFC) Organization, Ms. Elham Mustafa Abbas, explained that the workshop is organized to support children’s issues, raise awareness and spread the culture of children’s rights in society. .
During the workshop, a series of dialogues and discussions related to children’s issues and violations faced by them were held.
The workshop, reviewed the advantages of enlightening about the concept of practicing negative social norms and about the psychological and social impact of female circumcision.
The workshop also dealt with the medical complications of genital mutilation and cutting, indicating the status of the practice of negative social norms in the states of East Darfur.
Mr. Magdi President of the organization of Journalists for Children, North Darfur Office highlighted the performance of the Organization during the previous phase including activities, programs and projects that have been implemented, pointing out to the challenges facing the work of the organization in North Darfur in light of the scarcity of resources, challenges and many difficulties it faces.
Healso presented the plan of the of Journalists for Children Organization(JFC) in North Darfur State for the year 2023, which includes a number of programs that deal with children’s issues and ways to protect girls from the practice of Female Genital Mutilation or Cutting (FGM/C) .
