A huge fire broke out at the Arqin border crossing in the northern state last night, destroying a number of residences and shops.

The quarantine official at the crossing, Fathi Sayed, confirmed in a special statement to (Sudani newspaper), that  the fire broke out in the crossing market  late in the afternoon, coinciding with the Ramadan breakfast, as it destroyed the housing of workers, customs brokers and most shops in the market.

In response to Al-Sudani’s question about its causes and injuries, Fathi said: The reasons are unknown so far, denying any injuries as a result of the fire.

He warned that the fire led to the displacement of merchants, workers and employees, and complained about the lack of a fire fighting truck at the crossing, which contributed to the aggravation of the situation.
