Consumer Partners Pledge to Spread Awareness and Intensify Campaigns

The Sudanese Standardization and Metrology Organization (SSMO) announced the formation of Standardization and Consumer Protection Friends Societies in 31 schools in Khartoum State (Lamab district).

This came during the inauguration of the guidance campaign under the auspices of the General Manager of the SSMO, Ms. Rahba Saeed Abdallah which was organized in collaboration with the partners of the national committee of consumers’ affairs.

For his part, representative of the SSMO General Manager, Dr. Haytham Hassan Abdul Salam said that the programme is considered a start point for series of integrated campaigns all over the country.

Chairman of the National Committee of Consumers’ Affairs, Dr. Nasr Addeen Shulgami, said that the committee includes more than 20 monitoring institutions, adding that the campaign targets the pupils considering them the first defence line.

Director of Supply and Investigation Police, Maj. Gen. Ihab Hassan Salih affirmed their keenness to continue their activities in curbing any negative phenomenon in order to preserve the health of the consumers.

Consumer Attorney, Judge Mohamed Osman, pointed out that the campaign aims at spreading awareness to highlight the violations and the penalties.

Minister of Health official, Dr. Salah Hassan advised the pupils to make sure of the expiry dates of commodities and that they are stored in a proper manner.
